It is a game - it became a game some time ago. MSM fills the week with pre-game analysis, for any given event - trump trial, election. just like the old qb or center or coach on those winning teams provides opinion and "analysis ALL Week before the NFL or college games.

And it’s all meaningless to the actual outcome of the game…well meaningless in to the outcome in a sports game.

That’s what we’ve become, or at least that’s what “they” think we’ve become - blind consumers of sound bits from our favorite stations.

I observed different outlets during the trial - it was simply absurd. What are the jurors wearing? Are they paying attention? Judge this, stormy that, liar/thief witness, gag one, not all, no sequestration of the jury, same appointed judge for the 3rd trump trial.

3 weeks of it…OJ trial #2 in a way.

Absurd. Did the guy pay her off - sure he did. Is it illegal - I did my own homework - there is no illegality for paying for one’s silence or NDAs - contractual agreement. So i have difficulty linking the case together as a lay person. Never really understood the charge at the outset.

Sadly this is probably the first game in this new series - i have to believe there are DAs in other jurisdictions sharpening their pencils for cases at the State/Locals levels, reps, senators, judges, school boards.

And the dysfunction/lack of trust will only build.

Couple (of many) takeaways for me from this excellent podcast:
Your vote should be the bare minimum of your participation within the local community. Voting should be done, but mainly to feel better about your identity.
F__ Merchandise, you are not what you own!

Please keep these coming

What you do is who you are. No matter what shirt it’s in. And no matter what the stores are selling (great comments @KCP too).

Blind consumers of soundbites vs. eyes open activists… there’s a choice in here somewhere too. Worth shouting about (and continuing to shout about).

Conspiracy?

I’m going to start using “clownspiracy” - a collective action or actions that can’t pass the smell test, but can later be either kicked under the carpet as theater or trotted out as leverage for future action.

The clowns are throwing whatever at the wall to see what sticks.

Great pod. Oh how I wish the whole ‘cheap fakes’ narrative had begun before you guys had this one in the can. That would have been a wild one.

seriously. And perhaps for our next one, it’s worth discussing (and discussing how naming this may or may not make any difference - would love your thoughts) Seeing is believing? Not necessarily when it comes to video clips of Biden and Trump

This topic is deeply disturbing to me on a number of levels.

CBS did a whole segment on this and it was surreal.

https://x.com/cbsnews/status/1803492488625201387?s=46&t=bTMabhjuvFHECRwxU1-ZNA

Notice how they didn’t explain what was edited in the video. The segment was about what someone could do, not what was done with this specific clip.

NBC wrote a whole piece that, again, didn’t explain what was manipulated or changed in this video. They simply ran with the White House talking points they were handed by I’m guessing Andrew Bates.

https://x.com/natashakorecki/status/1802894945449107669?s=46&t=bTMabhjuvFHECRwxU1-ZNA

Another good one was the video shot by The Hollywood Reporter that showed Obama taking the hand of President Biden and leading him off. This lead to a storm of caterwauling about how the image was fake or doctored or failed to show ‘context’. Here is the original, unedited video:

https://x.com/chrissgardner/status/1802239454314410096?s=46&t=bTMabhjuvFHECRwxU1-ZNA

It shows exactly what was reported, yet it somehow is supposed to be viewed as illegitimate and doctored.

This is not going to end well for the White House. While some people—not me, but maybe some of you—will feel sympathy for the old man, nobody is going to be persuaded by this line of bullshit. People have eyes and they do not like it when you tell them not to trust what they’re seeing, especially if you’re making up brand new terms for them to accept.

I probably can be prodded to say more, but it’s a busy day and I’m running on fumes as it is, unfortunately.

This stellar response to CBS News capped it for me.

“The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.” ~ George Orwell

Thanks @LeviathanLeap, whoever you are.

OK, we’re 30 minutes into watching “Bloviating Liar vs. Senior Moment”.

TV off. Don’t care anymore about “missing anything”

It’s painful… Might be the understatement of the year.

Who is the new candidate and how long does it take him to get on the ballot?.
