Rusty Guinn is a contributing author to Epsilon Theory. He currently a serves as Executive Vice President over the asset management division at Salient Partners in Houston, Texas. There he oversees the business, investments and operations of a $10+ billion investment business, in addition to providing investment advice to Salient Private Client’s high net worth and family office clientele. He is transitioning from this role to join Ben and Epsilon Theory on a full-time basis.
Before he joined Salient, Rusty served as a Director and Portfolio Manager for the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, a nearly $150 billion pension plan. At TRS, he directed the $12 billion Strategic Partnerships and Opportunistic Investments portfolio, managed the Global Macro hedge fund program, co-managed the $30+ billion external long-only equity portfolio and established the portfolio and risk management program used in the ongoing oversight over those portfolios.
Rusty has also served in roles with Credit Suisse’s Asset Management Finance affiliate and de Guardiola Advisors, firms which served as investors in and strategic advisors to investment management and wealth management companies across the United States.
He is a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and in moving from Texas to Connecticut, intends to pretend to be a Connecticut farmer with his wife Pam and sons Winston and Harold. He serves as Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Houston Youth Symphony.
